Thursday, July 11, 2022 — On Tuesday, June 28, the Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors participated in their annual board retreat and strategic planning session. The board retreat is an opportunity for chamber leaders to evaluate local and state issues, chamber efforts for the upcoming fiscal year, and to think critically about long-term strategic planning. This year, topics included a review of the chamber’s growth over the past decade, current challenges facing the Bozeman business community, current tourism trends, and the long-term vision and structure of the Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce.
“As a major economic driver in the State of Montana, it is important for the Bozeman business community and more specifically the Bozeman Area Chamber to address challenges we are currently facing along with changes on the horizon,” said Daryl Schliem, Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce CEO. “Our community has experienced accelerated growing pains over the last few years due to the pandemic and we’ve all been trying to play catch up.”
Along with the issues facing the business community, the board of directors discussed the long-term strategic vision of the chamber, including the organizational structure of the chamber and its various components.
“In any well-run organization, it is crucial to evaluate long range plans to have a roadmap that guides the day-to-day decisions,” said Steve Wheeler, chamber board chair. “Over the last 12 years, the Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce has become a leader in the region because of excellent strategic planning and great leadership. With recent growth, changes to the economy and leadership changes on the horizon, our strategic planning is very important to maintain that success.”
Over the next few weeks, the outcomes from the strategic planning will be finalized, and efforts will begin for the next fiscal year. The Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting and advocating for locals to maintain and enhance the vibrant business community that has flourished in Bozeman and around the area. We look forward to continuing to serve as one of the strongest and most influential business organizations in Montana.
